Is liposuction a way to lose weight?
Liposuction aims to change the shape of specific areas by removing fatty deposits. It is not a treatment for obesity, and does not remove cellulite or stretch marks. Skin elasticity, health status and weight influence the choice of plan and expectation of the final appearance.
What should I expect during recovery?
Bruising, swelling, and numbness may occur after the procedure. The surgeon may order a corset or compression bandage according to a specific plan. Return to work, driving and sports varies depending on the extent of the procedure, the nature of the activity and individual recovery. Do not compare your schedule to another without checking with your doctor.
The result may not become clear until the swelling subsides, and the area may take several months to stabilize. Maintaining a healthy weight helps maintain the result, but the final appearance cannot be guaranteed.
What risks should be discussed?
Risks include irregular shape, bleeding, infection, and complications from anesthesia, and serious complications such as clots may occur. Ask for an explanation of the risks associated with your condition and how they will be managed. Contact your healthcare provider promptly if you experience severe pain or unexpected symptoms.
